August 2007

4 people are at a canyon and they have to cross a bridge. Only a maximum of 2 people can cross at a time. To cross the bridge at least one of the people must have a flashlight. One person can cross the bridge in 10 minutes, another in 5 minutes, the other in 2 minutes and the last one in 1 minute. When two people cross the bridge, you take the time of the slowest person. You also count the time it takes to get back over the bridge after a pair have made it across, i.e. a 10 minute person and 1 minute person crosses..that equals 10 mins, and if the 1 minute person crosses back for the others with the flashlight…that’s another minute, 11 mins total with the 5, 2, 1 minute person on one side and the 10 minute person on the other. Figure out how they did it in 17 minutes. There is no trickery in the wording or anything, you just have to straight up figure out the combinations. To keep you motivated, Bdizzle and myself have figured it out.

Game: Backboard Dodgeball

To give a little backstory, the older kids always goes after the leaders, and the one who hit me had a vendetta since day one for me. The other kids call him the “Doc Killer.”

Shot down in glory.

Notice the little girl who gives me a ball out of sympathy in the end.

sigh

100_0032 Hi everyone, this Mastakaga from about 500 miles away from all of you. I have now been in Philadelphia for about 2 weeks now and I am beginning to get into the swing of school and the city. The drive was long, though manageable (10 hours). Pennsylvania is actually a very scenic state to drive through. There were lots of mountains, tunnels, and areas were the rock had been blasted away to make way for the road.100_0033

They kept us pretty busy during orientation. We went to a Philly’s game, bowling, and lots of bars. The coolest thing though was a Boat (Booze) Cruise up the Deleware River on a Mississippi style paddle boat. The only pictures I got from the boat were a little blurry because of the movement, but the skyline in Philly is really nice. Towards the end everyone hit up the dance floor and had a good time.100_0049 100_0046 100_0051

Lastly, I got my first white coat and took the Hippocratic Oath at my white coat ceremony. It kind of forced to the realization that I am actually doing this crazy think called med school. 100_0042

Expect an update when I get some pictures from the Liberty Bell, the Rocky Steps, and Geno’s and Pat’s (famous cheesesteak places). Later.

Till August 16th at the earliest…maybe much much longer :(

I think these clips might be a little old, but I had never seen them ’till yesterday.

IMG_4800 (Large) Hey everyone. Mastakaga is now in Philly, the City of Brotherly Love, cheesestakes, and Rocky. Its been a very crazy couple of weeks leading up to this but things have finally kind of slowed down. For now I do not have TV or internet in my apartment, making my DVD collection my best friend. If you’re wondering, I’m at the school using their wireless as I type this. I am really excited to start orientation and meet a lot of new people. Heck, I’m even antsy to start studying, though I’m sure that will change very quickly.

Now here comes the semi-gay part. I know I’m gonna meet a lot of new people here and make a ton of new friends, but you all will always be my best friends and family. Thanks for everything over the past couple of weeks, including the party, bbq, stethascope, and everything else. They were all great I really do appreciate them. Now, before I start crying I’m gonna end this post. I will talk you all when I emerge from the cave man era and get some internet in my apartment.

Alright guys..since no one wants to step up to the plate with the posting. I guess this girls gotta show ‘em how it’s done. ;P

Let’s see, anything worth mentioning about this summer? Well Brian and myself, In the words of my younger brother, “tied the good ol ball and chain,” just recently. Yup…he’s stuck with me (I say it like it’s a bad thing).

Did you guys wanna noe how it went down? Of course you do. I’m not gonna go into detail..but let’s just say ..30 mins into our conversation..he said, and i quote:

“Smiley, you are the most difficult person to ask out.” (Jerk)

Can’t you just tell we’re gonna be the happiest pair of people? :P
